Located around Nang Loeng, you could walk past Ssound namm without thinking much of it, but step inside and you’ll find a different world entirely. Part café, part listening bar, it revolves around Thai music from the ’80s and ’90s, played as it should be through a real vinyl collection. The space grew out of the owners’ personal love for Thai music and record collecting, which gives it a more lived-in, personal feel. The mood is easy in the best way. Sit down with a coffee or matcha, flip through records, or let the staff take over the playlist. The selection moves between string classics, luk thung and molam, giving off a distinctly local character that still feels fresh for Bangkok. Drinks are straightforward, with a rotation of homemade snacks and small bites sourced from local makers, but that is not really the point. It is the atmosphere that holds you there, personal, a little nostalgic and very easy to settle into.
Ssound namm, Chakkraphatdi Phong. Open daily 9am-6pm (closed Wednesday)
