We thought the skateboarding hype in Bangkok would be a fleeting trend when everyone seemed to be wheeling by on wooden boards earlier this year. But, we were wrong. The skater trend is still alive and well in the city, with many skater boys and girls still enjoying this sport in various dedicated spots.
Jump Master Skate Haus is another proof of how skateboarding is not going anywhere soon. This new indoor skate park is located inside the stately Chai Pattanasin building, a 100-year-old structure near Talad Noi.
Chai Pattanasin originally housed a convenience store where one of Bangkok’s very first soda brands was founded. The owner of shoe brand Jump Master eventually bought the building and set up an office within its premises. Recently, the third-generation owner decided to turn the entire third floor into a skate park that reflects the old charm of Charoenkrung.
The indoor skate park has a pretty good collection of mostly wooden obstacles, both flat and uneven, including banks, skate ramps and mini bowls that cater to skaters of all levels. These are “not your typical barn ramps,” says Jump Master.
Currently running on soft launch, the venue is open for four sessions (1 hour and 50 minutes each for a maximum of 10 people) per day: 10:00 to 11:50, 12:30 to 14:20, 15:00 to 16:50, and 17:30 to 19:20. The skate park is offering a special price at B1,800 per session (from the regular price of B2,500) until 30 September. Limited parking is available.
