Time Out says

How does this sound to you: sipping cool cocktails while nibbling on scrumptious Chinese tapas? Sounds good, doesn't it? Well, speakeasy 008 Bar and modern Chinese eatery Dai Lou are about to make this happen.

On 3 November, these two venues will hold “Cocktail Pairing Experience” at 008 Bar, the “secret” speakeasy nestled within Akyra Hotel. Guests will get to relish an amazing six-course tasting menu from the Dai Lou crew, with each course paired with a cocktail from 008 Bar’s brilliant mixologist Pailin “Milk” Sajjanit.

Dai Lou has come up with brand-new dishes exclusively for the event, such as Tofu Rose Jelly, Turnip Cake with Extra Old Cognac (X.O. Sauce), and a choice of Mala Angus Beef or Steamed Grouper with Crispy Noodles. To wrap up the meal, you have Almond Milk Panna Cotta with Grape Compote.

Cocktails have been specially concocted to match each dish, including Five Spice Sherry, a gin-based cocktail with Chinese spices and a cherry that’s meant to enhance the Scallop Mandarin Salad; and Green Lush, a mix of Bianco vermouth, white grape and cucumber juice to help you cool down after sipping on the throat-warming Conch Soup. It’s obvious that both 008 Bar and Dai Lou have hit each nail on the head to come up with these fantastic pairings.

The cocktail pairing session is priced at B3,900++ per person Two rounds are available, one at 18:00 and another at 19:30.
