Time Out says

Celebrate all kinds of love at this special screening event on June 4.

Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok is once again hosting an LGBTQI+ cinema festival to celebrate Pride Month this June. This second edition will screen six movies, including Rafiki (2018), an award-winning drama from Kenya about two women, Kena and Ziki, who try to challenge the social norms around homosexuality. There’s also Coming Out (1989), an old German flick that follows a troubled high school teacher who’s figuring out his sexuality.

Get ready to swoon over the story of lovers Ben Hull and George Garea in Love Is Strange (2014). The couple finally settle down in marriage but later find themselves in many relationship difficulties. You also have 2019’ French comedy The Shiny Shrimps, a heartwarming film that centers on Mathias Le Goff, who’s assigned to coach a gay water polo team as “punishment” after making a homophobic slur.

The festival will also screen Carol (2015), starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara as two women developing a romantic illicit affair; and 3 (2010), which explores an unconventional love triangle involving a hetero couple who each fall in love with the same man.

The screening of all six films will take place at the hotel’s Grand Studio (6/F) on June 4 from 9:00 to 23:00 (with English subtitles available for all). Entry is free of charge, and food and beverages will be sold.

Limited seats are available so make a reservation now by contacting 0 2056 9999 or sending an email to kimptonmaalaibangkok@ihg.com.
