After-hours cultural event returns 16-18 Dec

If New York has Museum Mile Fest, then Bangkok has Night at the Museum, a free city-wide event where museums keep their doors open later than usual, so visitors can check out inspiring exhibits at no cost.

Now on its 12th edition, Night at the Museum is bigger than ever. Museum Siam and the National Museum remain the two most significant locations, but six other museums are also worth a visit. Here’s the list of participating museums:

  • The National Museum will show off its newly renovated rooms until 20:00 from 16 to 18 Dec. (English-guided tour available at 17:00.)
  • Bangkok Planetarium’s Colorful Sci-Night is perfect for lovers of stars and constellations. The planetarium will be open until 20:30 on 16 and 17 Dec.
  • Museum Siam will be discussing superstitious beliefs among new-generation Thais. The museum will be open until 22:00 from 16 to 18 Dec.
  • Chulalongkorn University will open its four natural science museums until 22:00 on 16 and 17 Dec so you can delve into the extraordinary world of Mother Nature.
  • The Office of Arts and Culture of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University will take you through the history of royal Thai recipes, which the museum is famous for. Shows will run from 16 to 18 Dec until 21:00.
  • King Prajadhipok Museum invites you to learn about the history of democracy in Thailand from 16 to 19 Dec until 21:00.
  • The Coin Museum will host entertaining programs and rare coin showcases from 16 to 18 Dec until 21:00.
  • NSM Science Square at The Street Ratcha will host a glow-in-the-dark science-themed show on 17 and 18 Dec until 20:00.

Other museums joining the cultural nights include Banglamphu Museum, Bank of Thailand Learning Center, King Vajiravudh Memorial Hall, Jim Thompson House Museum, Jim Thompson Art Center, Silapakorn Art Center and The Golden Jubilee Museum of Architecture.
