Sontaya Society raises a glass to Sunthorn Phu

Bangkok rarely misses a chance to turn culture into a night out, and this week one neighbourhood bar is adding literature to the mix. Sontaya Society in Bangrak is marking Sunthorn Phu Day with an evening dedicated to Thailand's most celebrated poet, featuring drinks, poetry and a distinctly local sense of humour.

The event includes a poem-writing contest with occasion-appropriate prizes, alongside the long-anticipated arrival of Dek Cheer Beer. Expect the bar's usual line-up of cocktails, beers, highballs and food throughout the evening. Cultural celebrations can sometimes get rather formal; this one looks much more fun.
