What would your ideal five-star stay on Samui Island look like? If you’re envisioning huge, luxurious rooms leading to a beautiful beach where you can bask in the sun and listen to the peaceful sound of crashing waves, well, then Meliá Koh Samui could be right for you.

This latest extension of the luxury Spanish hotel and resort chain opened in the northern part of Koh Samui just before the threat of coronavirus exploded. Unfortunately, due to nationwide regulations, the resort had to temporarily shut down almost as soon as it had opened. But now, the resort is ready as ever to greet guests back.

The property—Meliá’s very first endeavor in Thailand—takes over the very location of the Imperial Boat House Beach Resort on Cheong Mon Beach and is a brief drive from Bangkok Airways-owned Samui International Airport, meaning you will be staying in one of the less hectic zones of this usually busy island oasis.

Meliá features 159 rooms and 41 suites alongside a wide array of amenities, namely two restaurants, a YHI Spa, a kids club, an executive lounge, high-capacity conference rooms and ballrooms, a fitness center, two pools (one of which encircles the resort-like a small river) and a tiny water park. All these facilities help enhance your stay, and are complemented by friendly service from a supremely dedicated staff.

If you want a stay with a complete “wow” factor, then you may want to book the Boat Suites, an iconic room type wherein Meliá converts old vessels that once plied the Gulf of Thailand. The suites combine a traditional nautical experience with modern interior design and a homey vibe.

But don’t disregard resort’s other accommodation options. Melia Koh Samui also has rooms with pool access where you can jump in and glide along a path around the resort, make a stop at the mini pool bar for a refreshing cocktail, and then hop on a slide if you’re feeling a bit playful.

Malaysian chef Azizskandar Awang helms a team of chefs at Breeza Beach Restaurant and Bar and Koko Kitchen, two dining establishments that serve a range of cuisines, from Thai to Mediterranean to Western. His cooking expertise is guaranteed by his previous experience at Anantara Lawana Koh Samui where he earned accolades from the Hotelier Awards Asia 2018 and Thailand Tatler. Guests can look forward to revelling in contemporary Thai menus like the five course Taste of Thai, including ‘salmon wrapped in betel leaf with light chu che sauce and pickled pearl onion’ and ‘Australian lamb in massaman sauce with peanut puree, crispy onion and potato gnocchi’.

With gorgeous nature in your sights, and world-class service and amenities on hand, you can’t ask for anything else at Melia Koh Samui.

The resort is paradise for couples and families that wish to seek several days of serenity and a little bit of self-indulgence in these most uncertain times.
