Gogo Ya has officially returned to Time Out Market, so get after it.

From the dynamic husband-wife duo of Tim and Nancy Cushman—he’s a James Beard Award-winning chef, she’s an Advanced Sake Professional—Gogo Ya is a Time Out Market Boston original, making its debut when our Fenway space first opened in 2019. Now, after pressing pause during the pandemic, the fast-casual (yet still pretty darn fancy) concept has reopened and will once again start serving up scrumptious, Japanese-inspired fare.

For folks unfamiliar with Gogo Ya, this eatery has taken the essence and flavors of its celebrated sibling restaurant, O Ya, and made them more accessible to the masses. While it might take local foodies months to secure a coveted spot at the Cushman’s Leather District landmark, Gogo Ya lets everyone easily get a little taste of that experience—just on a far more convenient and affordable level.

Gogo Ya’s modern menu is centered around a remarkably novel dish: those crispy nori sushi tacos. Featuring a crunchy seaweed shell, these babies are packed with an array of sushi-grade fillings and snazzy condiments, like spicy hamachi with truffled jalapeño butter, torched salmon teriyaki and spicy bigeye tuna with cucumber-daikon slaw and yuzu kosho ponzu mayo. (There’s also one brimming with soy-braised mushrooms and miso truffle aioli that lets all of those meatless and raw-fish-averse eaters get their umami fix).

Besides these handheld masterpieces, you’ll also find a selection of bento bowls—go for the one topped with a sashimi trio—as well as sushi restaurant staples, like miso soup and seasoned edamame. And while we could go on and on, singing the praises of this Cushman kitchen, we’d rather be cramming a nori sushi taco into our mouths at the moment—and so should you. Stop by Time Out Market Boston to get your hands on some right now.
