They can be tall, rare and juicy, or well-grilled, pressed and crunchy. They might come piled high with unexpected ingredients, creating towers that defy gravity – and your teeth – or simple and pure, just cheese and ketchup. Starters might include onion rings, and desserts could be brownies or other classic American treats. Even vegetarians get a look in, if that’s your thing. What can never fail is the brioche (or any other bread) that hugs them, and the fries that come alongside. They’re burgers, of course – and Cascais has no shortage of restaurants to enjoy them guilt-free.

  • Carcavelos

Dallas, whose burgers have already won over crowds in Cais do Sodré, Anjos and São Bento, has now landed in Carcavelos. Housed in a former neighbourhood café in a residential part of town, the spot offers 52 seats across its indoor area and terrace. The menu is exactly the same as at their other burger joints, promising “juicy, slightly dirty, super-flavourful burgers, made from pasture-fed beef, freshly ground daily”, says Guilherme Clara, the brand’s operations and expansion director.

Try, for example, the Onion Vice (€9.50), with American cheddar, heaps of onion slices, pickles and chipotle sauce; or the Gorgonzola Galaxy (€10.90), with onion chutney, gorgonzola and watercress. There are vegan options, too, plus nachos topped with spicy Mexican chorizo, melted cheddar, sour cream, guacamole, coriander and chili to start, and a peanut brownie to finish in style. Complete the ultimate foodporn experience with a milkshake.

  • Cascais

Cascais has caught the smash burger fever. The ever-popular Street Smash Burger chain arrived in town in August 2025, following the opening of its first location in the municipality, in Carcavelos, back in January. The menu is classic, with the Street Burger (€9.90) stealing the spotlight: 180g of beef (no preservatives or artificial ingredients), American cheese, onion, pickles, ketchup and mustard. You can also add extra meat (€3.50), cheese (€1.50) or a gluten-free bun (€2.50), and choose from the house sauces Mayo Sriracha and BBQ Smokey (+€1).

  • Parede

This natural burger joint from Cascais arrived at the revamped Mercado da Parede in June 2025 (alongside its older sibling, Páteo do Petisco, another brand from the group). With around 40 seats, it serves the exact same burgers that made it famous in Torre: from the Simplório (150g beef, lettuce and tomato, €6.20) to the Gigante Adamastor (225g beef, cheddar, onion, mushrooms, bacon and a fried egg on a bolo do caco bun, €12.50) – reserved for the brave. There are also chicken and salmon options, as well as two vegetarian burgers. Starters take you on a journey from Madeira to the United States in three bites: special bolo do caco (€3.90), breaded cheese triangles (€4.80), onion rings (€4.20/6 pieces) or breaded jalapeños stuffed with cheddar (€4.90/5 pieces). If your diet’s already gone out the window, dive into desserts before you leave – cheesecakes come in tomato, passion fruit or berries, among others (€4 each).

Brunch menus, bowls, pancakes, toasts and – among many other options – burgers. That’s what you’ll find at Miami Mami Estoril, an American-style brunch spot serving dishes reminiscent of a classic diner, but with plenty of Latin twists, inspired by the influence of Central and South America on the city of Miami. It’s right across from Praia da Poça on the Avenida Marginal. Among the burgers, the biggest is the Immoral Miami (€18.90): a brioche bun stacked with four veal patties, caramelised onions, coleslaw, cheddar, onion rings, pickles, bacon, a fried egg, barbecue sauce and a literal mountain of fries. Another option is the Palm Tree (€13.90): brioche with a veal patty with dates and sausage, rocket, tomato, cheddar, pickle, bacon, barbecue sauce and fries.

  • Burgers

No kid turns their nose up at a burger. And here, even vegetarians will be jumping for joy, with a selection of meat-free burgers, most served on bolo do caco. Mention fries, and well… that’s pure happiness all round. The Lisbon-born burger chain expanded to Cascais a few years ago, occupying a corner on Rua Amarela. Plenty of good reasons to take the little ones here, in other words.

  • Carcavelos

This is an original burger joint from Brazil that landed in Carcavelos in 2022. Sitting somewhere between gourmet and signature fast food, they serve 100% Black Angus burgers like the Lumberjack (€9.90) with bacon, cheese, pickles and house sauce; the Bullguer (€8.70) with cheese, pickles and house sauce; or the Super (€11.90), with a double patty, cheddar, bacon and sauce. There’s also a chicken option, the Chicken Hot Honey (€9.20), with mayo, spicy honey and sweet-and-sour pickles; or, for fish lovers, the Fisherman (€9.90), a breaded patty with cheese and tartar sauce.
