The next time you sit down in the Raging Bull roller coaster at Six Flags Great America, you may be required to cover your eyes... with a virtual reality headset. Following in the footsteps of similar VR experiences that have recently debuted at Six Flags amusement parks across the U.S., Great America is putting a new twist on one of its more popular attractions.

Later this summer, riders will be able to strap on a Samsung Gear VR headset and embark on a virtual experience that is synchronized to Raging Bull's 20-story drop and six inclined loops. The theme of the virtual reality experience has not been announced, but other Six Flags parks have employed Superman-themed visuals or generic alien invasion trappings. Whatever Great America settles on (a skydiving Robert DeNiro from Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull, perhaps?), don't expect Hollywood blockbuster–caliber CG visuals—Six Flags has employed fairly primitive graphics at its other parks, on par with video games released five or six years ago.

Still, the addition of VR offers a compelling reason to revisit one of Six Flags Great America's best roller coasters. Reacquaint yourself with the experience of riding Raging Bull without a VR headset by watching the video below.
