When the weather warms up in Chicago and summer arrives, we prefer to attend events that take place outdoors and don't charge an admission fee. That's why you'll find outdoor movies screening in local parks, at least two summer festivals every weekend and free concerts in Millennium Park. Taking over the stage at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the Millennium Park Summer Music Series is like a two-month summer music festival—but you can bring your own booze and you won't have to fork over any cash to get in.

This summer's lineup is stocked with 11 free concerts (up from 10 shows in 2018) and features an eclectic array of performers. Fans of jazz will want to show up for sets from legendary Afro-Cuban pianist Chucho Valdes and local guitarist Fareed Haque. If you're looking for something upbeat, don't miss Venezuelan dance act Los Amigos Invisibles or Congolese funk outfit Jupiter & Okwess. You'll also find indie rockers Car Seat Headrest, alt-country singer-songwriter Lydia Loveless and a tribute to instrumental hip-hop producer J Dilla among this year's offerings.

Take a look at the complete Millennium Park Summer Music Series lineup below, and begin planning your outdoor concert calendar. All performances begin at 6:30pm.
