Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky had a very specific pre-game ritual that Chicagoans can appreciate: Before every game he played, he'd eat at least one hot dog—and sometimes as many as four! For the next three days, you can celebrate Gretzky's love of encased meats at one of Chicago's best hot dog stands, which is offering 99-cent Victory Dogs to customers.
To promote the launch of Gretzky's new class for streaming platform MasterClass, both Byron's Hot Dogs locations are offering a 99-cent Victory Dog fit for the Great One, available from May 13 through May 15. Byron's take on a Chicago-style dog comes topped with onions, lettuce, cucumber, green peppers, tomatoes, pickles, sport peppers and celery salt. Plus, each Victory Dog comes with a set of Upper Deck trading cards (pictured below) that depict Gretzky and Byron's Lakeview stand.
MasterClass has also printed limited edition Victory Dog T-shirts that will only be available for purchase at Byron's Hot Dogs and the two other hot dog stands (Pink’s in LA and Gray’s Papaya in New York) that are participating in the Gretzky promotion.
Once you've scarfed down a Victory Dog (or four), you can check out Gretzky's MasterClass, which finds the hockey player unpacking the physical and mental habits that helped him earn four Stanley Cup championships. Gretzky is just one of many famous figures that have recorded classes for the platform, including Samuel L. Jackson, Herbie Hancock, Shonda Rhimes, Stephen Curry and Dr. Jane Goodall. You'll need a subscription to watch the classes—it's currently $180 for a year of unlimited access to all the content on the platform.
Even if you're not interested in learning about the secrets of Gretzky's success, it's hard to pass up the chance to enjoy a 99-cent hot dog fit for a champion.
