Italian beef tacos are now a thing thanks to Tacombi and J.P. Graziano

What happens when you combine two beloved foods? You get an Italian beef taco.

Tacombi, the national taqueria chain that arrived in the West Loop last summer, is partnering with Chicago institution J.P. Graziano Grocery to create a special offering for the month of March. Beginning March 4, the city’s 187th birthday, folks can order a taco inspired by Chicago’s iconic beef sandwich. Served on a freshly crisped corn tortilla, the taco features thinly sliced beef slow cooked in Tacombi’s salsa verde and J.P. Graiziano’s Italian beef seasoning. It’s finished with housemade giardiniera, pickled red onions and bacon, and available through March 31 for $6.98.

J.P. Graziano’s is no stranger to unique collaborations. The fourth generation Italian market and sandwich shop has worked with Montclare bakery Il Giardino Del Doche to offer giardiniera paczkis on Fat Tuesday for the past two years.

Tacombi and J.P. Graziano aren’t the only ones celebrating Chicago’s birthday with an inventive dish. Pendry Chicago hotel is serving a luxurious hot dog combo—boasting a French-style boudin blanc sausage paired with an old fashioned made with Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged Bourbon—for $187 from March 1-4.
