Featuring contributions from JC Rivera and David Najib Kasir, each letter is a veritable work of art.

It's not Chicago's first Black Lives Matter mural, but it may be its most colorful. Gracing the 4700 block of North Clifton Avenue in Uptown, this new work of art is a collaboration between 18 local artists, as first reported by Block Club Chicago.

Organized in part by Uptown United, the colossal effort had a different Chicago artist filling in each letter. On Saturday morning, Heart & Bone Signs chalked out and filled in all 16 letters, creating a blank canvas for the chosen artists. David Najib Kasir transposed beautiful Arabic textile patterns on the letter K; Daniel Wilson used the letter V to display some of John Lewis's most famous words; and JC Rivera emblazoned the letter B with his crown-wearing Bear Champs.

The mural was coincidentally completed during the inaugural Uptown Art Weekend, during which eight artists were splashing paint on walls and more than 100 other pieces of public art were on display for passersby to admire from a safe distance.

Take a closer look at the artists who designed each letter of Uptown's Black Lives Matter mural, and see the work of art for yourself—you can find it on Clifton Avenue between Broadway and Lawrence.
