How do you get a Chicagoan’s attention? Put your message on a beer can. Rideshare company Lyft is urging city-dwellers to travel responsibly by printing a compelling deal on craft beer cans. They’ve partnered with Bronzeville-based Baderbräu Brewery to launch Five Star lager, the brew on which you’ll find discount codes for up to 60 percent off a Lyft ride.

Five Star, which is only available in bars, is a Munich Helles-style lager—a golden-colored German beer that’s usually crisp, refreshing and a tad sweet. After downing a few brews, simply enter the code from your lager into the promos section of the Lyft app to receive a discounted ride. The partnership encourages Chicago beer snobs and novices alike to drink well and get home safe. And no, you needn't be a first-time rider to take advantage of the discount. Of course, there’s something in it for Lyft, too: The rideshare company will get oodles of nightlife-centric data and could eventually expand the program to other cities.

To celebrate the launch of Five Star lager, the two companies will host a public party on Thursday, January 18 at 5:30pm at Baderbräu (2515 S Wabash Ave) that includes beer samples and freebies.
