1. Using techniques that date back to the 10th century, Shanghai artist Xu Longsen presents a collection of large-scale landscape paintings in his new Art Institute of Chicago exhibit, "Light of Heaven." Admission to the museum is $25 ($20 for Chicago residents).

2. See stand-up comedy from up-and-coming women, queer folks and people of color at the annual Second City NBCUniversal Break Out Comedy Festival. Tonight's show on the Second City e.t.c. stage showcases the school's diverse Bob Curry Fellowship recipients. Admission is $15 and the performance begins at 8pm.

3. Chicago-based mentalist Mark Toland brings his Mind Reader show to the Greenhouse Theater Center, blending psychic feats with accomplished storytelling. Tickets are $25 and the show starts at 8pm.
