The Willis Tower still doesn’t have power—and it looks really creepy

Last weekend's flooding has left Chicago's tallest skyscraper without any electricity.

Record-breaking amounts of rain over the weekend caused flooding throughout Chicago, most notably in the Loop, where portions of the Riverwalk and Lower Wacker Drive were submerged in water. Willis Tower (a.k.a. Sears Tower, to most Chicagoans) is still without power and closed to all occupants and visitors as of Wednesday morning, due to flooding of a ComEd substation in the building's basement.

The tallest skyscraper in the city's skyline always sticks out, but now that the Willis Tower is almost entirely dark, it's a monolithic void amidst all of the other illuminated buildings. Photographers on Twitter and Instagram have also noticed that, when viewed from the proper angle, the towering structure appears to have two eyes and a mouth situated on its upper floors—and it doesn't look very happy.

While crews work to restore power to the building (according to a ComEd statement, "Until ComEd crews can get inside the vault, we cannot make an estimate on restoring power to Willis Tower"), Chicagoans can gaze at the darkened edifice and wonder why it looks so angry. And if you can't get a good view of the skyscraper from your neighborhood, check out these photos of the Willis Tower from Twitter and Instagram users.
