Becoming King: The Pakyung Revisited

This 60-minute dance show explores the role of the lead dancer in a mak yong dance – the pakyung. The performance searches for meaning of the heritage dance in today’s world and how it has influenced modern dance. Created collaboratively by the dancers from Aswara and lead by Joseph Victor Gonzales, the performance also commissioned music from Ng Chor Guan and designs from Jazmi Jamal.
