Sweden, more commonly associated with IKEA and Stieg Larsson’s ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ trilogy, has managed to produce several notable EDM luminaries of late to rival those of European counterparts Netherlands and Germany. Of note are turntable heavyweights Swedish House Mafia as well as superstar Avicii, with countrywomen Rebecca & Fiona in town this month to showcase more danceable electro-pop tunes from the Scandinavian nation.
Since first single ‘Luminary Ones’ captured the imagination of the clubbing masses in 2010, Rebecca Scheja and Fiona Fitzpatrick have gone from strength to strength, first touring with Robyn, collaborating with several artistes along the way (most notably American DJ Kaskade on hit ‘Turn It Down’) and then starring in their own TV show. With the release of debut album ‘I Love You, Man’, the pair has continued to churn out infectious vocal-driven and synthheavy tracks that are bound to delight the Vertigo crowd. Wong Boon Ken
