While many head over to JIN Gastrobar for its mellow ambience and live music, this casual bistro also has a menu filled with delectable grub. Despite being part of luxe cinema Aurum Theatre, it is also open to walk-in guests. Diners can look forward to a wide variety of delicious dishes cooked by Chef Mohamad Zaidi, who has more than 25 years of experience under his belt, and has worked in the kitchens of five-star hotels and fine dining restaurants.
Since he's well-versed in both classic French and contemporary Asian cuisine, the gastrobar’s menu reflects his intercontinental cooking style with dishes like teriyaki cod fish atop a veggie paella (RM108) and beef jus risotto with seared foie gras (RM80). Make sure to order the Hokkaido scallops (RM88) to share, baked with a miso truffle glaze, or the Sabah sea prawns (RM48), which are served sizzling hot with garlic, chilli, and paprika. The bar also has a tempting cocktail list, from a lemongrass and lime G&T (RM45) to a classic Singapore Sling (RM38).
Head down to JIN on the weekends, every Friday or Saturday to enjoy live music nights (8pm onwards), comprising a showcase of local R&B acts and jazz musicians. As JIN Gastrobar is part of Aurum Theatre, you can find it at Kuala Lumpur’s The Gardens Mall and Johor Bahru’s The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey, although live performances are only available at The Gardens Mall for the time being.
