PUSAKA Evenings at Publika: The Mah Meri of Pulau Carey

In this instalment of PUSAKA Evenings, learn more about the Mah Meri tribe of Pulau Carey with a talk by Rashid Esa who has studied and researched the tribe for almost 20 years. After the talk, you can watch the tribe in action through a series of dance performances. Descendants of seafaring gypsies, one of the Mah Meri’s most well-known dances is the Mayin Jo-oh (mask dance), which is a call to ancestral spirits.
