Back in 2012, orchestral musical evangelist Charles Hazlewood put on Orchestra in a Field: a one-day event with acts that ranged from grime artist Labrinth to folk song collector Sam Lee and a full production of Carmen. Now he’s gone one better, with a new two-day festival that boasts one of the most genuinely diverse line-ups in the UK this year: electronic guru Squarepusher doing an orchestral version of his ‘Ufabulum’ project, Mercury-nominated folk sisters The Unthanks and Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory, as well as the British Paraorchestra, The Philharmonia and more classical, folk and crossover action. There’s also tea, talks, and lots of delicious food, and the whole thing is as child-friendly as festivals come.
