'Eight Lust Songs'

Or 'I sonetti lussuriosi', Michael Nyman's setting of erotic poems by Pietro Aretino, abrasive Renaissance scribe and friend of Lucrezia Borgia (he ended his letters to her 'sta sana' – 'be healthy', perhaps better addressed to her guests), the UK premiere of a work created at Venice in October. Marie Angel (soprano) joins the Michal Nyman Band. '50,000 Pairs of Feet Can't Be Wrong' comes to London after its premiere at the Sage, Gateshead, inspired by the emotional and physical impact on the body of a long-distance run. 6pm: Pre-concert talk with Nyman and Serena Wallace, co-curator of the 'Seduced' exhibition which contains examples of the erotic drawings by Giulio Romano which inspired Aretino.
