Reliably brilliant Duluth, Minnesota trio whose divinely downbeat, near funeral take on alterno pop gave rise to a genre – the clunkily named slow-core – but who wring exquisite sweetness from their sadness and mine a vein of mordant humour, while also featuring some thrillingly filthy and anguished guitar work from Alan Sparhawk. Here Low play from latest album 'C'mon' (Sub Pop) – perhaps their finest demonstration of strength and restraint for a while and exceptional, even by their own high standards.
