At 6pm, the distinguished Russian violinist and conductor Dmitry Sitkovetsky presents an illustrated talk on his passion for arranging. Following in the footsteps of Mahler and Schoenberg, he sees orchestration as 'a way to study music, to hear it in a new way, to make it your own.' He begins at 6pm with his arrangement of JS Bach's 'Goldberg Variations' for string trio
and string orchestra. Then, at 7.15pm, his arrangement of Stravinsky's 'A Soldier's Tale'.
