The London Symphony Orchestra under Valery Gergiev, with violinist Leonidas Kavakos, performs Prokofiev's Symphony No 1 in D ('Classical'); Henri Dutilleux's 'L'arbre des songes'; Slava's Fanfare; and Prokofiev's Symphony No 5 in B flat. (Note: at 5.45pm there is a Proms Plus event at the Royal College of Music. Fraser Trainer and musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra offer an illustrated guide to the works in tonight's concert with recorded and live musical examples.)
