First fashionable for its spa waters in the eighteenth century, Hampstead has long been London's most gorgeous hilltop hideaway. Between Hampstead Village and Highgate, its heath is a stunning, 791-acre patchwork of woodland, playing fields, swimming ponds and meadows. With its mix of picturesque countryside, historical buildings and cosmopolitan shops and restaurants, Hampstead is a breath of fresh air for even the most jaded Londoner.
Holborn Dining Room
Located on High Holborn, linked to the Rosewood Hotel, The Holborn Dining Room might lead you to believe you’d stepped into an exclusive gentlemen’s club. With plush red leather banquettes nestled in a retro style dining room, you can’t mistake the air of opulence about this venue. It’s not all about the good looking interior design though, there’s an extensive brasserie style menu, offering up breakfast, lunch and dinner. The wide-ranging breakfast menu delivers up eggs in a manner of ways, spelt pancakes and pastries and later in the day diners can choose from English classics such as Suffolk pork belly or pick something lighter from the seafood counter. There’s also an outdoor terrace for a more al-fresco experience and a deli on site if you’re after something on the go. Although the food may not be particularly exotic, there’s a further element that makes this place stand out from the crowd… it’s gin bar. Boasting a choice of over 400 gins and 30 tonics gin-lovers can experience 14,000 possible G&T combinations, probably not in one sitting…
Venue says: “Enjoy Sunday lunch, with a choice of roast chicken, lamb or beef served with roasted potatoes, seasonal greens, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.”
