Il trionfo di Clelia

City of London Sinfonia and Tutti all' Opera present a rare opportunity to hear this opera seria in three acts by Christoph Willibald von Gluck (libretto by Pietro Metastasio). A fiery young Roman noblewoman Clelia is taken hostage by Porsenna, King of the Etruscans, as part of a peace treaty with Rome. After escaping, she is returned to her captors to maintain peace, but her courage and loyalty finally triumph. Directed by Nigel Lowery; Giuseppe Sigismondi de Risio conducts the City of London Sinfonia. (Sung in Italian.)
