Once upon a time canals were the arteries of Britain, transporting lots of very important stuff up and down the country to keep the nation going. Nowadays they’re very beautiful places for a nice walk and important ecosystems for wildlife. Celebrate these watery byways at the East End Canal Festival, a free community event in Mile End Park full of boat trips, arts and crafts workshops, music, storytelling exhibitions about canal history, pond dipping and... a floating cinema.
