Time Out says

Girls' comics in Japan have existed since the 1940s, but it wasn't until the 1970s that they really took off. The House of Illustration presents the first exhibition of genre-spanning shōjo manga to come to the UK, focusing on work of two key artists from that period, Akiko Hatsu and Keiko Takemiya (who drew the first gay kiss in manga), as well as the contemporary comics artist Yukiko Kai.
