Time Out says

See a cultural reverence for lions, dogs, horses, oxen, cats, fish, insects, birds, dragons and phoenixes rendered in a range of mediums from ancient 6th-century clay sculptures to contemporary works. Like a zoo of Japanese art, this exhibition is brimming with lively depictions of animals: a kimono with stunning embroidery of a rooster, a monk-like statue of a tanuki, antler-adorned armor, photographs of ravens. There’s really something for everyone here with works that’ll make animal lovers coo, like scrolls and screens of sleeping kitties, bunches of bunnies and sad-faced puppies in the snow. And for contemporary art fans, you’ll spot colorful Yayoi Kusama dogs, Issey Miyake’s dove-inspired dressed and four slowly morphing digital panels from TeamLab.
