Amsterdam’s visiting ambassador is not a person—it’s a painting. LA becomes the temporary home and only US stop on a world tour of Johannes Vermeer’s “Woman in Blue Reading a Letter." The painting, from about 1663-1664, will be on display at the Getty, while its permanent museum, the Rijksmuseum, undergoes extensive renovations.
