Time Out says

Founded and curated by Shepard Fairey, creator of the OBEY street art series and Barack Obama’s iconic “Hope” campaign poster, Subliminal hosts exhibitions by established and emerging artists at its Echo Park base. Perched on the corner of Elysian Park and a gritty stretch of Sunset, the flatiron-style building calls from a distance with a Space Invader mosaic emblazoned on its brick façade – a fitting beacon for what lies within. With standout shows from artists including Apex, Andrew Holder, Philip Lumbang, Ryan McGuinness, Jamie Reid, and Anthony Sneed, alt culture icons like Tim Armstrong and Mark Mothersbaugh, as well as work by Fairey himself, Subliminal has earned the respect of both the street and establishment.
