When Miradero was constructed around the turn of the 20th century its castle-like grounds were home to Glendale's powerful Brand family. These days, it's better known as Brand Park, a recreational and cultural hub nestled in a quiet Glendale canyon. At its center is the stunning Spanish, Moorish and Indian-inspired Brand Library. It boasts over 110,000 items in its collection, many dedicated to music and the arts, and often hosts free exhibitions, concerts, screenings and lectures.

I discovered these exquisite grounds after attending a baby shower onsite. The grand architecture is stunning and one could spend all day exploring the grounds.Since the event, I returned twice to visit the Art Center and Library. It was a no brainer to get a library card and also join their mailing list. They host frequent public events, such as art shows, music performances and book signings.

There are trails on the grounds to explore and hike. It truly is a neighborhood gem.

The Brand is a gem. The architecture, groundskeeping and mountainous surroundings are gorgeous. They go out of their way to provide a comfortable, clean, quiet space for people to work and study almost every day. The connected art museum actually curates relevant, lively, challenging exhibitions on a regular cycle. And they just introduced a little corner with armchairs, a record player, and headphones so you can hang out and listen to vinyl LP's. This is literally everything a library should aspire to be.

It's my favorite place in all of LA county. A magical, beautiful place filled with art and music and it's free....everything is free!
