Oak Canyon Nature Center

Tucked between a hilltop housing development and a squiggly reservoir, this shaded slice of nature offers the perfect terrain for budding wilderness explorers. You should be able to tackle most of the easygoing trails, whether along a gentle stream or atop a grassy ridge, within a half hour. Stop by the John J. Collier Interpretive Center on weekends to learn about the local critters.
