Will Rogers State Historic Park

The former home of writer, cowboy philosopher, trick-roper and the first honorary mayor of Beverly Hills has been maintained as it was in the 1930s. The 186-acre grounds give access to some good hikes; one path takes you to Inspiration Point, from where you get a breathtaking view of mountains and sea. Polo matches are held on weekends (www.willrogerspolo.org), and you can also take horse-riding lessons: call or check online for details.

Cute park, decent parking. The bikers need to slow down a bit, but other than that, good place. The shining star is Westside Riding School. Rob was a great trail leader and the horses were well kept. Would absolutely go back!

This park is the perfect getaway from the city. With miles of trails, including Murphy's Ranch Trail, this is a quieter alternative to the more popular (busier!) hikes, such as Runyon Canyon. With rolling green hills and winding dirt paths, this offers great scenic views.
