Star Wars x Cinco de Mayo mashup party—Estar Guars—at Here and Now
Time Out says
This weekend, in a galaxy not at all far away, Arts District bar Here and Now is combining two holidays for one insane mashup: Star Wars Day—"May the Fourth be with you," etc.—is getting a very welcome Latin infusion thanks to some Cinco de Mayo flair.
The bar's Estar Guars celebration, running both Friday and Saturday, means you'll be able to chow down on specials perfect for both holidays, such as the Jar Jar Links Mexican street dog (an all-beef, bacon-wrapped hot dog or veggie dog with peppers, pickled red onions, jalapeños, avocado, ketchup, mayo and mustard); the Death Star Chicken and Waffles (a Death Star-shaped churro waffle served with maple syrup, butter, and beer-battered fried chicken); and the Wookie Cookie Sandwich (horchata ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies).
Wash it all down with drinks like the Leche de Bantha Organica—"local and humanly-sourced from Lars Farms on Tatooine"—and made with tequila, Combier Le Bleu liqueur, pineapple, coconut, lime and sugar; and the SÍ-3P0 Golden Michelada (dear god, this name) with Tecate, mango, lime, verde hot sauce, pineapple shrub and tortilla salt.
Entry is free, with food and drink available for purchase, and you can even expect a pet costume contest, Star Wars lotería and trivia, vendors, vintage Latin vinyl sets and more.
