Marked by a glowing Space Invader icon above the door, The One Up in Sherman Oaks adds a jolt of youth to this quiet stretch of Ventura Boulevard, a block previously dominated by nail salons and dry cleaners. Inside, you'll find Valley dwellers diving into goat cheese tots and Cap'N Crunch chicken wings before wiping their hands and heading over to the arcade area. A selection of roughly ten consoles offer free games, with an emphasis on classics: Donkey Kong, Centipede, Frogger, Jumping Jack and plenty more. Between levels, thirsty gamers make their way to the bar—the beer options here are just OK, but cocktails break the mold with drinks like Grown-Up Chocolate Milk and The 18 Hour Sling. On a date? Sip your liquid courage on comfy couches by the door, under the soft light of a neon sign that reads, "We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all."

I stopped by a few times when I used to live in the area. The biggest perk & most welcome attribute is that the games are FREE, just like the other review says. The beer and cocktail selection has some solid choices as well. I've been during the day a few times and it is relatively empty, but I certainly have heard that it gets busy at night. Overall a welcome spot in the area for sure and very much worth stopping by sometime.

I do not make it out to the Valley too often but when i do, this is one of my go to places. The vintage arcade games area all FREE and include one of my all time favorites Tetris! The food is surprisingly really good and the drinks are a great play on our childhood favorites such as adult chocolate milk. This place is great to host a birthday party (prior reservations for a couch is needed since place does tend to get crowded) also great for a late night snack and some tasty drinks or for anintimate date as this place is perfectly lit for a first date.
