12 things in LA more upsetting than the first day of school

Just when summer starts to feel like it could last forever, the first day of school hits. It doesn't matter how fly your Lisa Frank folders are or how fresh that pair of Adidas sneakers is, the first day can be a bummer. But you try your best to get through it anyway. Or, if you're KTLA, you remind pre-kindergartener Andrew that he's going to miss his mom.

Andrew, we understand the sting of missing your mom on the first day of school. In fact, we routinely come close to shedding tears when:

The FlyAway shuttles are backed up and you just want to get home after your flight.

The person in front of you in line at République buys the last crème brûlée bombolini.

You get to Proof and they’ve run out of sandwiches.

Space Mountain breaks down right as you’re about to get on the ride.

A cop car swerves onto the highway to start a traffic break. Why?!

There's traffic at 11am on a Sunday or 11:30pm on a Tuesday.

The road to the Griffith Observatory lot is closed and you're directed farther and farther down the hill.

You're stuck in a seemingly endless spiral at the Downtown Macy's parking garage.

Your cute Tinder date turns out to be an "actor."

The forecast says rain but then it doesn't rain. It never rains.

You meet the celeb of your dreams but they're actually kind of a dick.

Flights home for the holidays are already $800 round-trip, and we miss our moms too.
