Depending on where you live, parking in LA is a reoccurring nightmare—shout out to DTLA, you know the pain you've caused. But even more trying than parking is the sinking feeling in your gut when you see a little slip of paper under your front windshield wiper. 

If you're getting sick of paying up, you'll be pleased to hear there's a group of people in city government that's getting really antsy about lowering the cost of parking tickets in LA, the LA Times reports. The working group, formed by Mayor Eric Garcetti to advise on parking issues, is trying to push through a proposal after City Hall released numbers last week revealing that they have hundreds of millions of dollars basically just sitting around. Since parking tickets are a huge source of income for the city, the group hasn't been able to do very much, but this could be their chance. 

The proposal would essentially penalize repeat offenders. First-timers at an expired meter would cost $23, which is far less than the current $68 penalty. The rate would increase for each offense, but would be capped at $68.
