The avid music fan may know these names, but most of the general Coachella crowd may not yet be aware of some of the great artists performing this year. Plan your days accordingly and make sure you check out these five artists.

Drake. He’s a young talented rapper from Toronto that began somewhere near the bottom. We predict this kid is going to be pretty successful. Oh, you’ve heard of Drake already?

Then how about these artists...

1. Saint Motel. Saint Motel isn’t exactly an unknown entity, especially if you’re in LA. They’ve been on Kimmel, toured the world and are set to play multiple festivals this year. They’ve got a fantastic album (Voyeur) under their belts, and have sprung into the national spotlight with the success of their hit song “My Type.” These guys have a real classic, throwback sound—yet still manage to come across new and fresh. You’ll see a lot of bands that sound alike, but Saint Motel will be one that stands out live.

2. Coasts. UK newcomers Coasts have a few EPs and singles, including their newest EP Modern Love that just came out March 31. Once they release a full-length, they’ll really be on America's radar. There’s a lot of moving parts to enjoy on stage, and they’re a band that will have a much bigger billing this time next year.

3. Sylvan Esso. The North Carolina duo of Amelia Meath and Nicholas Sanborn built a big buzz with their self-titled album last year. Addicting indie-pop tracks like “Coffee” and “Play It Right” are accessible enough for everyone, while quirky and unique enough to not get old. It should be interesting to see how the songs translate to the live stage. This should be a good performance to sit and chill out to before David Guetta comes out and does permanent damage to your eardrums.

4. Haerts. Much has been made of music festivals and their lack of gender equality. Whether that’s fair or not is up for debate, but one band that should be circled on your schedule is Haerts. Powered by the vocals of Nini Fabi, Haerts create both thoughtful, intricate songs and big, soaring tracks that beg to be played on a big stage. Their debut album was one of the most impressive albums of 2014 and their Coachella performance should not be missed.

5. Night Terrors of 1927. The duo of Jarrod Gorbel (The Honorary Title) and Blake Sennett (Rilo Kiley) has created a buzz with their debut album Everything’s Coming Up Roses. Jarrod’s voice alone should be a big draw, but having seen them live before, they will surely put on a great show with a crisp, impressive sound. *Side note: their music will not give you night terrors. AC/DC however… that’s a different story.
