6 cool art and culture events to check out in LA this April

Brewery Art WalkTwice a year, the resident artists at the Brewery Arts Complex open up their studios to the public for an inside look into an artist’s world. You’ll be the first to lay eyes on some of their latest pieces, you'll have a chance to talk to the artists themselves and can tour the homes of over 100 local creators. (Brewery Arts Complex, 2100 North Main St, Unit A10, April 2-3, 11am-6pm. Free.)

Artists & FleasArtists & Fleas is adding a second date to their calendar of LA events. Every first and fourth Saturday of the month, the open market will take over the Westminster Avenue Elementary School on Abbot Kinney with a range of vendors selling artisanal and vintage goods. (Westminster Avenue Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd, April 2 and 23, 11am-5pm. Free.)

LA RebelsJanette Beckman has shot some of the biggest names in hip-hop music, and the LA Rebels exhibit at Project Gallery pays homage to her career with a collection of work from the music and street scene. Beckman also collaborated with a number of graffiti artists including Cey Adams, Zephyr and Revolt to curate a series called "The MashUp," an artist’s interpretation of the iconic photos. (Project Gallery, 961 Chung King Road, opening reception April 9, 7-10pm. Free.) 

TRASHed Coachella // Art of Recycling ExhibitGet a jumpstart to your Coachella weekend with the annual TRASHed exhibit. View more than 40 recycle bins that have been designed by selected artists around the country before they get transported to the festival grounds. (Angel City Brewery, 216 Slameda St, April 12, 7-11pm. Free.)

Bates | California DreamingRenowned European graffiti artist BATES will be debuting his latest artwork in his first ever solo exhibit called "California Dreaming" at Buckshot Gallery. (Buckshot Gallery, 3129 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, opening reception April 16, 7-10pm. Free.)

Photo Independent Art FairThis annual photography fair provides a platform for independent and emerging photographers to showcase their imagery to the public. Get ready to point and shoot all weekend long. (Raleigh Studios Hollywood, 5300 Melrose Ave, April 29- May 1. Free.)
