6 specials to eat your way through Leap Day

With Valentine's Day in the past and St. Patrick's Day still a few weeks away, we need something to celebrate. Leap Day? Sure, why not. The once-every-four-years occurrence takes place on Monday, February 29, and a few restaurants around Los Angeles are offering deals to both leaplings—those who were born on the 29th—and those of us with standard, once-a-year birthdays. Take advantage or risk having to wait until 2020.

Tacos Tu Madre: The Westwood taco stand is offering $.29 asada tacos from 9am to midnight, meaning you can walk up to the order window with a dollar and score three tacos. This needs to happen every Monday.

Love & Salt: To celebrate Leap Day, the Manhattan Beach restaurant is extending their bar special from 5:30 to 10pm. Score a Downlow Burger or any pizza plus a glass of wine or a craft beer for just $20.

Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood: Leaplings can bring in a valid photo ID to Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood and receive a free entrée from the restaurant's Leaplings Eat Free Menu, like a Legendary Burger; Twisted Mac, Chicken & Cheese; or a Hickory-Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich.

Dog Haus: Leap Day calls for an upgrade—and at all Dog Haus locations on February 29, you can upgrade your single patty burger to a double patty for free. That's a lot of burger, y'all.

Holsteins Shakes and Buns: Orange County leaplings can take advantage of their birthday with a free boozy birthday cake shake and classic burger. Just bring in a valid photo ID and order away.

Border Grill DTLA: Remember CITY? Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken's iconic LA restaurant? Well, it's making a comeback this Leap Day as the chefs transform the Downtown Border Grill location into their beloved collaboration that ran from 1981 to 1994. Call 213-486-5171 to make a reservation for this rare switcheroo, where you can celebrate with a $125 prix fixe meal featuring CITY's pan-international cuisine.
