Black Kite, Winter Wren, Little Bustard—for birdwatchers, these are names that might raise a set of binoculars for a closer look. For drinkers, they're the latest libations to land at Upstairs, Ace Hotel's rooftop bar. Starting Tuesday (November 3), Upstairs will be offering a brand new flock of cocktails as part of its Fowl Play menu, and to celebrate, they're encouraging patrons to look to the sky. Park ranger and avian expert Anthony Bevilacqua will lead a birdwatching session from 4pm to sunset, while music from DJs Purple Stuff and Sunny D starts at 5pm.

So what exactly is in these ornithology-inspired concoctions? Winter Wren (scientific name: troglodytes hiemalis, $14) features gin, chamomile-infused honey, chamomile grappa, lemon and dried sage. Whiskey enthusiasts may be partial to Black Kite (Milvus migrans, $15), which includes Mars Iwai Japanese whiskey, Amaro Montenegro, St-Germain and bitters. The exotic Little Bustard (tetrax tetrax, $14) uses green tea-infused vodka, Dolin Blanc vermouth, pomegranate, lime, club soda and Szechuan peppercorn tincture. For more bird beverages—and to take a closer look at the wildlife that circles Downtown Los Angeles—stop by on Tuesday after work. It'll be good to get out of the nest.
