Beach Goth is bringing James Blake, Future Islands and other huge names to Orange County

The Orange County music festival Beach Goth just announced the bands who will be playing its fifth annual event, and it’s a pretty exciting list of names.

The late-October event will be headlined by A-listers like James Blake, Nicolas Jaar, Future Islands and Cold Cave—as well as the yearly appearance of festival founders and beloved institution of the local music world, the Growlers. They even managed to fit that hotly-anticipated Justice reunion in alongside some Bon Iver. For those who cannot get enough of 1990s vibes, even the reformed TLC (yes, now performing as a duo, if you were wondering) will be in the mix.

Since its founding in 2012, Beach Goth has grown each year. While there have always been some big-name performers—Grimes and Juicy J were among the musicians who took the stage last year, for example—the focus in previous years has been on more mid-level and smaller bands, particularly ones with ties to the SoCal scene. The 2016 list marks a pivot toward a lineup comprised almost entirely of bigger-ticket names with broader appeal, albeit fewer bands in total.

Another shift for this year is the venue. While still presented in collaboration with the Observatory in Santa Ana, the fest will be spreading out in a new space this year, Oak Canyon Park in Silverado. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, with two-day GA passes ringing up at $150.00, which is pretty low by festival standards. (To put that in perspective, the cheapest ticket you can buy to see James Blake alone when he plays the Palladium will set you back at least $57 a person.)

It is definitely making us wonder if this indie OC upstart is making a play to give the bigger festivals, like FYF, a run for their money and become a permanent fixture on the must-attend concert calendar.

Beach Goth V takes place from noon to late-night on October 22 and 23 at Oak Canyon Park, 5305 Santiago Canyon Road, Silverado, CA. Tickets go on sale Friday with General Admission at $150 and VIP passes for $250.
