Do you think you're the next big playwright? Do you have a play you think will knock the socks off an audience? Do you live in LA? If you're answering "yes" to any of these questions, then heads up: Center Theatre Group and HUMANITAS will be accepting submissions from LA playwrights from January 15 to February 29 for the PLAY LA Workshop.

For the second year, selected playwrights will be given a $1,500 stipend and the chance to attend workshops spanning from April to December (attendance is mandatory, actually)—the real prize here is feedback from various professionals in theater, film and television on how to improve your skill set. In the end, one person's play will be selected to be workshopped at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of PLAY LA in winter 2017.

"My intention is to give PLAY LA Workshop members all the tools they need to create plays as they see fit," said award-winning playwright Shem Bitterman, who will oversee the program. "The hallmark will be openness and mutual respect. The main thing is to offer writers a place to create freely and to realize their visions."

If this sounds up your alley, submit two 10-page samples of two different plays, along with your resume, to playlaworkshop@humanitasprize.org no later than February 29.

We imagine there will be quite a few submissions with so many people in LA thinking they're the next big thing—this is your chance to prove you really are.
