Coachella producers are eyeing a new music festival site in New York

Don't worry (or maybe, don't get too excited?)—Coachella in California isn't going anywhere. But according to an exclusive from the NY Daily News, AEG Live, the massive entertainment company behind the fest, has been quietly looking at Flushing Meadows Corona Park as the site of a new east coast music festival, tentatively called Panorama, reports the New York Daily News.

If it happens, it's sure to be massive—reportedly, one of the biggest events in Queens since the 1964 World's Fair, held at the same location. It's also poised to topple New York's current hometown fest, Gov Ball, which is run by Founders Entertainment, one of the last independent promotion companies in the music industry. Panorama is reportedly scheduled just two weeks after Gov Ball, and might be using its Coachella clout—and talent—to be bigger and (they say) better, and more attractive for artists and attendees.

So what does that mean for us? Well, a few things. For one, Coachella-lovers now have an excuse to go nuts not two weekends a year, but three. (They've also got a great excuse for a trip to New York.) Or, if you're sick of 100-degree desert weather and boring ol' Indio, you can skip Coachella altogether and be a Panorama early adopter. But hey, if you stick with the OG fest, at least there will be fewer obnoxious New Yorkers around (AEG hopes), are we right?

It sounds like talent is already being booked, so keep an eye and ear out for more info and get ready to budget some frequent flier miles next summer.
