It's only a two-and-a-half hour drive from Los Angeles to Coachella, and while you could simply motor from point A to B, you'd be missing out on the many bizarre and beautiful pit stops along the way. We decided to take a day trip-style detour off of the 10 and explore the desert instead. We fueled up with a coffee stop at Shreebs, posed in front of the Cabazon Dinosaurs (of Pee Wee's Big Adventure fame), devoured a Dole Whip in Downtown Palm Springs and stopped for a dip and a drink at the Ace Hotel.
