Forget New York, the Bay is coming to LA and we're psyched

Everyone’s been making a giant fuss about all the New Yorkers moving to LA. But what about our NorCal counterparts? They happen to be doing some pretty cool things up in the Bay, and lately it seems that steep rent prices (and a realization that Los Angeles is amazing, of course) are leading some Bay Area businesses to expand down south. By the looks of this list of newly or soon-to-be opened SF spots in LA, that's going to work out pretty well for us.

Esqueleto: This hip jewelry shop in Oakland's Temescal Alley recently opened their first LA location in Echo Park, just east of the 'hood's main drag. You'll find an amazing selection of nature-inspired, vintage and engagement jewelry here, plus ceramics and art from local makers.

Ali Golden: Another Temescal Alley tenant, Ali Golden makes classy clothes and bags out of her Oakland studio, and will soon be selling out of a shop next door to Esqueleto's Echo Park location. (Can all of Temescal Alley please move here??)

BellJar: A fun Mission District boutique, BellJar will be expanding their repertoire in a new Los Feliz shop, opening September 1, to include menswear and an extended roster of clothing lines.

Pretty Pretty Collective: This full-service hair salon for men and women has been long beloved in the Bay. PPC opened the doors to their first LA location on Fairfax back in June and has been bestowing stylish cuts on SoCal babes all summer.

Cream: The Bay Area ice cream sandwich experts have opened near USC and up in Northridge, giving LA staples like Coolhaus a run for their money while being real cutesy at the same time (CREAM stands for "cookies rule everything around me").

Tartine: And speaking of Blue Bottle—the ever-expanding coffee brand has partnered with Tartine, so their new LA shops will be serving the Bay's most beloved pastries. And we just may get a Tartine location of our very own—the LA Times reports that bakery owner Chad Robertson has his eye on 584 Mateo Street—right next to Blue Bottle, of course.

The Slanted Door: Arguably the Bay's most buzzed about restaurant, The Slanted Door recently announced it would be expanding to Downtown LA in early 2016, setting up shop in the Fashion District's new City Market South development. We think chef Charles Phan's award-winning Vietnamese cuisine is going to do just fine here.
