When we saw StarTalk Radio—the celestial pop culture podcast of badass astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson—was hosting a live show in LA sans Neil DeGrasse Tyson, we felt a little shortchanged. But that quickly faded once we noticed our own local rockstar scientist, Bill Nye the Science Guy, would be hosting instead. Nye will share hosting duties with comedian and StarTalk regular Eugene Mirman next Thursday for an evening at the Palace Theatre in DTLA. They'll be joined by the wryly hilarious Tig Notaro and JPL scientists Dr. Suzanne Smrekar and Dr. Abigail Allwood for a talk about two upcoming Mars rover missions, Mars 2020 and InSight—which we got a sneak peek of at JPL's open house.

If you have even the slightest interest in science, go to this show; tickets ($35-$48) are still available here. And if you're still yearning for face time with Neil DeGrasse Tyson, he'll be in town in February for an (unfortunately sold-out) show at Pantages.
